Baby Jack

baby-jack

baby-jack-back

You never know, someone might just recognise baby Jack whose mother was probably Lucy and whose father may have been Mick.  The photo was taken by the Tyree brothers of Nelson so he probably lived in that area of New Zealand.

Unfortunately nothing more is known except that the Tyree Studio was in business from about 1882 to 1947.

Charles Henry Beanland of Yorkshire

Thanks to Brigitte in Virginia I now know that the photograph of Charles Beanland is not Charles Norman but Charles Henry Beanland of Bradford, Yorkshire.

Brigitte tells me “Charles and his brother, Joseph,  were part of the Waterloo Pierrots of Bridlington in the late 1800s and early 1900s.  Later he and brother Joe toured as the performing group, Beanland and Bath.  Charles (sometimes known as Sammy Beanland of the Waterloo Pierrots) died in Morecambe later in life”.

On googling the Waterloo Pierrots I found this lovely article about them on Mike & Diane’s website.

Charles Henry was born about 1870 and was the son of James Beanland & Harriet Dinah neƩ Burwell. James had a butcher shop in Silsbridge Lane in Bradford which Harriet took over after he died early and left her with five young children to bring up.
